Frequently Asked Questions

Pretty simple: you search, we feed.

Search engines like ours make money when people click on ads. Then we can take the profits we make from ads and give that directly to charities.

We’ve chosen two wonderful charities to start with: the World Food Program and Project Healthy Children.

When you start using Seva, you join a movement of Everyday Heroes who are giving back through simple daily actions.

The best part: you can make a positive impact…all on autopilot.

Nope.

Unlike other search engines, we don’t want to know all your deepest search secrets.

We respect your privacy.

Your searches are fully encrypted while searching.

We don’t even store your searches.

If you create an account, we’ll tally your # of searches so you can know how much you’ve contributed. That’s it.

We don’t track what you search for or anything else like that.

You get clean, unfiltered results.

And wayyyyyyyy more privacy than with google.

(they know all kinds of things about you…)

Your searches are 100% encrypted and secure.

We don’t track them.

We don’t store them.

Your privacy is yours.

(Google probably knows when you’re pregnant…)

We’re a US company and our founders are in Israel, Thailand, and Bali right now.

We’re a fully remote team with people working from all over the world.

Covid life.

The mission is simply to help feed people in need.

No one should go to bed hungry when we have the resources we have on this planet.

We want to be a part of helping end hunger & malnutrition (the leading root cause of ill health and death worldwide).

Covid is threatening to send over 100+ million more back into poverty and hunger.

We want to do our part to address this gigantic crisis unfolding in front of our eyes.

When your friend sends you a text asking the best place to beg for food, it has a way of lighting a fire to work on solutions.

Will we be perfect? No.

But we’re here for this.

And we want to be a part of the solution.

We hope you do too 🙂

We did a big search and settled on two charities that are doing incredible work in the world:

1. Project Healthy Children

Project Healthy Children provides nutrients for the 1 in 3 people who lack proper nutrition. They help fortify food with needed nutrients to ensure children grow to their full potential. They currently serve 55 million people worldwide and are on track to serve 100M by 2025.

2. World Food Program

The World Food Program has consistently been on the front lines of the world’s worst hunger crises, fighting hunger and famine since 1962. They’ve provided over 15 billion life-saving meals to 100 million of the world’s most vulnerable people in more than 80 countries each year.

Here’s a nice compilation of resources for learning more about solutions to world hunger:

It counts how many searches you’ve made with Seva. If you create an account, you can see how many searches and meals you’ve contributed.

If you don’t create an account, the counter might go back to zero after a while because it doesn’t know who you are 🙂

You might’ve switched browsers or are using a different device. But if you sign in, you can have a seamless account on your desktop and mobile. That way we can make sure you get credit for all the meals you generate.

Click on the little rice bowl in the upper right corner, you’ll see it there 🙂

There’s an epidemic of “hidden hunger” in the world that results in severe malnutrition for millions.

This “hidden hunger” can be solved effectively through enriching meals with proper nutrients and micronutrients.

It’s one of the most important solutions in addressing hunger, malnutrition, and children’s health across the world.

Every search you make enriches an average of 5 meals for a child in need. It’s an amazing way to give back.

We appreciate the enthusiasm, but that would actually be a bit harmful. We actually make money when people click on advertisements. Then we average that out across searches.

But if you just search random phrases, then it lowers the quality of searches and kinda harms our reputation.

So it’s best to just search as you normally would 🙂

First thing: make Seva your default search engine if you haven’t already 🙂

Check out the question above if you need help: “How do I make Seva my default search engine?”

And it would be amazing if you spread the word to everyone you know.

We need to get to 10,000 users very quickly in order to sustain our operations and fulfill our contracts.

That means if everyone gets 10-20 people to join, we can make this movement a success!

Sure you can.

To change your default search engine on chrome follow these steps:

1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More
3. Click Settings.
4. Under “Search engine,” click Manage search engines.
