Pretty simple: you search, we donate.

Search engines like ours make money when users click on the ads in their search results. We take that ad revenue and donate at least 50% to the cause of your choice. The rest of the funds are used to continue operating the site.

When you choose to use Seva, you help. It’s charity made effortless.

Create or join a team simply by clicking one of the buttons on the top right of the homepage. ‘Teams’ allow us to aggregate the benefits of multiple user’s search efforts on the site. We can then provide reports that show the impact that you and your teammates were able to accomplish. We encourage you to share your team’s efforts with the world!

Step 2: After you install, follow the instructions in the video to make Seva your default search engine.

Step 3: The video instructions are basically: open a new tab and click “Keep Changes”….then try 1 search and again click “Keep Changes.

For Desktop: Safari

Step 2: After you install, you can search on Safari as you normally do. It will default to searching with Seva 🙂

Go to sevasearch.org and click the “Add Seva to Firefox” button.

Follow the instructions to set Seva as your default.

We recognize that taking the time to do something good can be tough for many people. We hope to unlock the potential that all of us possess through the mechanism of the site that we call effortless charity. Once you download the extension, you don’t have to do anything different to make a difference.

It counts how many searches you’ve made with Seva. If you create an account, you can see how many searches you’ve contributed.

If you don’t create an account, the counter might go back to zero after a while because it doesn’t know who you are 🙂

You might’ve switched browsers or are using a different device. But if you sign in, you can have a seamless account on your desktop and mobile. That way we can make sure you get credit for all the good that you create.

We appreciate the enthusiasm, but that would actually be a bit harmful. We make money when people click on advertisements. Then we average that out across searches.

If you just search random phrases, it can harm our reputation with advertisers and ultimately hurt the goal here.

To change your default search engine on chrome follow these steps:

1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More 
3. Click Settings.
4. Under “Search engine,” click Manage search engines.
5. Find “Other search engines.”
6. Click Add: To the right of “Other search engines,” click Add.
